2000 toyota corolla burning excessive amounts of oil. I'm having to add a quart everytime i put gas in. I drive from destination to destination for work and having to oil is a safety concern as the light does not come on until it is empty.

Excessive oil consumption issue on our 2000 toyota corolla. Check engine light is on and indicates needing a new catalytic converter. However, that is an effect of the cause of excessive burning of oil. I add approx 1-2 quarts of oil every 250-400 miles. If highway driving, i easily add 1 quart of oil every 100 miles of driving. The 1zzfe engine design burns exessive amounts of oil. Known to have poor ring design. Toyota refuses to honor warranty. Now i am up to 1 quart consumption per tank of fuel.
